Dr. Moosa bin Shamsher, our founding Chairman is also the father of the manpower export industry in Bangladesh. He is one of the most celebrated names in the country, known as much for his contributions in the field of commerce, as for his philosophies, lifestyle, innumerable charitable contributions, and his unflagging dedication to national and humanitarian causes. In celebrating his fame the popular press and media have donned him the epithet of ‘Prince’. His fame and renown is not limited only to Bangladesh, but he has been lionized in countless global forums.
A true patriot, in the late 1960’s he worked tirelessly as a student leader to achieve the independence of Bangladesh, and was incarcerated for most of the war, suffering inhumane torments at the hands of the military junta. Upon the nation’s independence he became one of the key young entrepreneurs directly patronized and supported by the Father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, to help rescue the nation’s economy, which at the time was in dire straits.
Since the early 1970’s the name of Dr. Moosa bin Shamsher has been synonymous with success and integrity. His work and his probity has garnered him friends across the globe, from the members of Middle Eastern royal families, to global business magnates, and social and political leaders from across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
He remains a noble and true guiding light for DATCO, everyone whose lives we have touched, and for the whole nation of Bangladesh.
